New sunglasses could add some color to the world of the color blind.
Most people who are color blind do see some color but are unable to differentiate between red and green, which is the most common form of color blindness. New sunglasses feature a proprietary coating that compensates for red-green CVD by reducing the transmission of certain wavelengths of light, which allows the red and green wavelengths to stand out.
The sunglasses will not work for people who can see no colors at all, and are designed to be used in bright light.
