The idea is to develop a new sensor integrated steering wheel able to provide a quick vital sign check for the driver and easy to integrate into mass produced vehicles.
While there have been many new systems for monitoring stresses while driving, most of them are too complex for commercial use. The simpler steering wheel system will be able to monitor blood pressure and stress levels through reflected light and electric conductance. The driver will need only have his hands on the wheel for the system to work.
It will also possible to connect additional devices to the system via a radio connection.
