A new healing gel will help re-grow skin and blood vessels, which will prove especially useful for severely burned patients.
The hydrogel will be made up of the sugar dextran dissolved in water, and polyethlyene glycol. The gel will differ from others on the market in that the structure of the hydrogel will require no additions of growth factors.
The hydrogel will allow the body's natural inflammatory response to easily accumulate within the gel. It will even be possible that the gel will recruit bone marrow stem cells, which can be induced to differentiate into blood vessel cells and skin.
