For areas in the world that suffer from frozen and icy roads. Tyres for cars are consumables, they wear out, and the rubber "dust" gets inbedded in and on the road. My idea is to make the rubber act as a de-icer for the roads. A chemical of some type would need to be added to the rubber to make the freezing temp of the water on the road increase. It would be constantly applied to the road through the wearing down of tyres.

I hate getting parking tickets, so I sat down and thought of a way to get around it. When the parking wardens come round, they mark the front tyre closest to the curb with a chalk mark. On their next round, if the chalk mark is still there then they dish out a ticket. A modified automatic fragance dispenser that are used restrooms can be used to solve this problem. Instead of frangrance, it dispenses a black liquid (or similar) on to the top of the front tyre. When you park at a...

After burning countless bags of pop corn in the microwave, i thought that there must be a better method of timing the cooking time. A microphone would be placed in the microwave. During the first minute or so of operation, the microphone would pick up the ambient noise and set this as a base line. It could then pick up the sound of the pop corn popping. When the frequency of the popping decreases to one every two or three seconds, the microwave would stop.

I have been sitting on this idea for a while now. I emailed the below letter to BMW's online innovation website, but unfortunately they responded many months later with: "We have evaluated your proposal and unfortunately have to inform you that we do not see any possibility of implementing your idea." Oh well. So here I give my idea to you. Any advancements or improvements let me know. It seems no matter what a driver does, sun glare continues to make driving difficult. At one time or...

Mice have come a long way in the last few years with the invention of the optical mouse e.t.c. The optical mouse still has several problems. 1) They are still surface dependent - will not work on glass e.t.c. 2) Cordless optical mice drain batteries very fast, especially when playing games. (Solar panels add around 25% more life) My idea is to use an accelerometer to measure the changes in direction, and hence the position of the cursor on the screen. I believe that the...

Have you ever been a passanger in a car and wanted to have a sleep. If you take a pillow and lean it against the window it always ends up bunched up and your head ends up hitting the window. I think that if you put plungers on the pillow (so that it would stick to the window) it would help prolong the sliding down of it, meaning that you would get a longer sleep. A very simple idea, not sure of the market though.

Motorised skate boards have been around for a while. Basically they are snowboard sized skateboards with 40ish cc engines on the back of them, usually chain or belt driven the back wheels. This is fine, but these monsters can't really be used on or at a skate park. Because of the size and the weight of them, it is impossible to do tricks with them. What i am thinking about is a motor that is attached to the back of an ordinary skateboard, but it is detachable. So once you get to the...

This idea sort of falls under environment, but I bet more people would look at it here, so here she goes. Busses travel in most cities for at least 15 hours of the day. During that time the bus may cover up to 300km. A filter placed on the roof of the bus would see a fair amount of air in one of those days. For example, if the dimensions of the filter were 2.5 x .5 meters then in the course of the day one bus could filter approximately 250,000 cubic meters of air. Filters could be...
