Computer chips are improving in terms of speed, but the trend now is not the speed, but in efficiency. Chipmakers are into dual core, quad core, for multi tasking. My idea is this: can someone build motherboards that will accomodate 2, 4 or maybe 8 cpu's (old but working chips). The same principle is applied on quad core cpu's (4 old cpu's in 1 mobo). Application: 4 tasks at the same time can be performed by the computer. (Convertible slots are encouraged so different cpu speed and slots...

I think it is about time to stop making our electronics in stiff plastic. We could make all the components fit in the right places and make our casings see-through and flexible for futuristic and multi-use and multi-purpose reasons. The main reason would simply be to be able to bend them in half to fit in a backpack.

I think a lot of people will agree with me that spending a lot of time in front of a laptop can be a real pain in the neck. Literally! They have the swivel screen, but why don't they have the adjustable height screen? Being able to adjust the screen height, each person can adjust it to their comfort level. This will make everyone pain free and, more importantly, more productive. Better technology is shifting us from bulky PC's to mobile laptops, but why do we have to keep lugging...

Most people know how to play one common instrument - the human voice. Imagine software that could convert a person's whistling or humming into MIDI format (or something similar) - recording the pitch, duration, volume, and decay. Once in a format like MIDI, it can be interchanged with a wide range of virtual instruments, allowing you to command an orchestra without ever having to learn how to play a MIDI keyboard.

I noticed that more and more people are using computers, and that lots of people spend time chatting and surfing the web, or just doing work. I'm sure that the energey used in hitting a button on the keyboard or moving a mouse could create some energy, this power multiplied by millions of people on millions of computers, would generate a lot of power, and it's good for the enviroment.

What about a new low cost terminal, something like the old Commodore 64 but with new features: keyboard with integrated screen (40x10 chars), no hard disk, instead flash memory (1 gig), serial port, USB port, internal modem and thermal printer... that's it. Programmable in Basic, C, Pascal or some other low level language. Lots of small merchants would like the idea of billing (for example) with this low cost terminals, and lots of programmer will have the opportunity of become in...

Did you know that standard letters on a keyboard are not set up to make it easier to type but the opposite. They were arranged early in the 1900's to make it the hardest to use for a specific odd reason and that has never changed? If we arrange the letters around and place the letters used most (for instance) at the easiest point to type them then we would have a better and faster keyboard. I say we go a step further and rearrange the entire keyboard (not just letters) and add extra...

There is a lot of software that give out an audible output of what is a computer monitor screen for the blind. There seems to be no reference to a tactile output pad that reproduces text in braille as well as graphics as raised dots. The output 'screen' can be a pad lying on the table with a matrix of equally spaced pins, which are at surface level and rise above the surface on activation The technology exists (rather outmoded) as dot matrix printers. Enhancements can be thought...

This is more of a software game design idea. I have had it for several years now and I know I am not going to get around to doing it so I am throwing it out there because I would love to see it done. You all know how they have golf video games that you can play against people online. What I think would be great is if they made a game where you can actually play against the real pros during a real tournament. Say the tournament starts on Thursday and you get up in the morning and...

Everyone has old tapes. It would be cool to be able to listen to them on the PC. A tape-rom, just like the CD-rom could be made and althought it could be used to easely copy music from the tape to the PC and then to a CD.
