My idea is to create an application for smartphones which will use phone's GPS and accelerometers to sense and pinpoint the location of potholes. The great challenge there will be how to teach the phone to tell the difference between a pothole and a speed bump or sewer grate.

The new smartphone application will be able to customize a mobile device's output to suit the specific hearing needs of the user. Since no one has the same kind of hearing loss, the application will run a simple test to identify the user's particular type of hearing loss across a range of frequencies. The software will then alter the output of the device by turning up the volume on the frequencies the user will mark as difficult to hear.

My idea is to create a mobile phone application based on GPS which will help to define single people within a radius of 0.5 - 0.7 miles. It will be of great help not only for pickups but also for people who are eager to make the acquaintance. The application will also have a chat function so as it is possible to send short messages to each other and make an appointment.

My idea is to create mobile application which will help children with autism to develop communication skills. The application will be based on Picture Exchange Communication System, i.e. it will help children to build messages from pictures and send them to each other. It will also contain a vocabulary consisting of words learnt by a child. The vocabulary could be easily updated as well as new pictures could be added to the application.

I've just found out that there was a microbial fuel cell based charger developed. It can allow cell phones to draw their power from the dirt. The device uses a conductive surface that is able to harness the free electrons that are created by soil microbes during their metabolic process. Plans are to distribute the charging device in Sub-Saharan Africa, where many people have cell phones but lack power in their homes to charge them.

The new application will help ease (or feed) the fears of people worried about their exposure to radiation through cell-phone use. The application will use the mobile phone's own internal mechanisms and a patent-pending technology to determine the amount of radiation output and user exposure. The system will analyze the data and send alerts when levels are high, and will offer suggestions as to how to reduce radiation exposure.

It would be cool if our mobile phone or PDA beeped when there was our friend nearby. It seems to be possible using Bluetooth technology.

Why not create a super simple cell phone for children and seniors to make an emergency call for help with the push of a single button? It will be possible to program the device to call parents, or any other designated emergency contact and send emails with GPS data pinpointing the caller's location. In addition, such cell phone could have an alarm to help responders locate the person in need of help.

I want an audio file on my phone which will frighten off mosquitos within a radius of 3.5 feet. A human won't hear anything but mosquitos will. The sound will be similar to the buzz of mosquito male which mosquito female try to stay away from.

My idea is to create a mobile application integrated with a database of public lavatories within a city/country/state/etc. After you define your location the application will return the list of the nearest lavatories. It seems to be very convenient. By the way, the database should be updated on a daily basis.
