Inspired by the troubles in Japan, I suggest creating a new cooking pot able to harness the heat from a pot of boiling water to charge a smartphone. Thermo-electric cookpot will use strips of thermoelectric ceramics to use the difference in temperature between the bottom of the pot and the boiling water to generate electricity. The device could be helpful in aiding disaster victims as well as giving citizens of developing countries a way to charge their devices in areas with...

Just one more incredible way to charge your phone... Why not develop a shirt that can convert sound waves into electricity to charge mobile devices. The shirt will use a flat microphone panel of piezoelectric film to absorb the high decibels. The leads from the shirt will be interchangeable so that to be used with a variety of smartphones, and the water sensitive components will be removable to allow the shirt to be washed in conventional washing machines.

Manufacturers of photographic equipment continue to improve camera models, change their design, performance attributes for maximum ease of use by consumers. Australian company Fotopol went on a few different ways to deliver maximum comfort to the same consumers. They released a new model of camera on a rack, which is put in hotels and in the streets and can be used by tourists for a group shot. It's not a secret that while taking a group photo there is always the one who...

A new line of avalanche airbag integrated clothing will make protection as easy as putting on a vest. The vest will use a nitrogen based airbag system that will be deployed by the wearer to release a pair of brightly colored bags. The bags will increase the wearer's surface area to help reduce sinking as well as will act a visual signs for rescuers. The vest will also include an array of pockets able to secure other gear, allowing the vest to replace a full backpack.

The idea is to create a glucose sensor for diabetes sufferers which will use tear fluid instead of blood. This may soon eliminate the need for finger pricks. The device will be able to take a sample of tear fluid by a painless dab at the corner of the eye. The device's sensor will measure the amount of glucose in the tear sample which is supposed to be very similar to the amount of glucose in blood. I am sure that those people, who are always losing their keys, will find this idea interesting. It would be awesome to have a fingerprint scanner right on a doorknob where a key hole was. You'd need to register your fingerprint on a microcomputer and then you would lock / unlock the door just putting your finger on the scanner.

A new technology is able to use ordinary light to create holographic images, opening to door to 3D displays without the need for special screens or glasses. The new technology will use the diffraction of free electrons on thin metal films. When the electrons are excited by incoming protons, they begin to emit colored light at a specific wavelength. These excited electrons will emit a different color of light depending upon the angle of the incoming proton, and bouncing this light...

Static electricity occurs as a result of charges difference (negative and positive) between two objects. Sparks, which occur during discharge, cause irritable effect on the human body. How to minimize this affect? Below are several static control methods. * Increase the humidity of your home. You can do this with a humidifier. The humidifier will add moisture to the air. This moisture will make the air more conductive, which will decrease the ability of things in your home to...

Many people die of cancer because the case is diagnosed when it is too late. I'm sure that more people would catch their cancer early if they could test at home. A cancer test can be similar to a pregnancy test or a blood sugar test.

I've just found out that there is a material, made out of graphite, as thin as a sheet of paper and 10 times stronger than a sheet of steel. The graphene paper is created by milling and purifying raw graphite in a chemical bath, which changes its structure and allows it to be pressed into sheets. The thermal, electrical, and mechanical properties of the sheets allow them to have a wide range of applications in many industries, such as automotive and aviation, with the added...
