Why not create a rechargeable UV water purifier able to render up to 16 oz of water safe enough to drink in under a minute. The device will consist of a UV light able to be recharged through a computer's USB port, AC outlet, or any compatible solar charger. Battery life is estimated to up to 8000 uses, and it will also function as a flashlight.

What if a remote control had a buy button on it? It would be very convenient to buy things which were in the commercials. To purchase something the user should push Buy button and then enter credit card numbers or passwords in the form on the TV screen. The good would be delivered at the address defined.

I am a member of a soccer club. We have no real goalies there so the field players have to take turns in the goal. I always have the feeling that some people spend more time in the goal then others but I have no real proof. I suggest creating a device similar to a chess clock but with five and more buttons. If you're in the goal, you press your button so as it is easy to track your time there. I am sure that this device would have many other applications!

Why not create a system that will allow the blind to "see" their surroundings through the use of sound. The system will use sunglasses with built-in micro video cameras, a computer, and a pair of headphones. The cameras will analyze the space in front of them and create a 3D model in which various surfaces will be assigned sounds to be played back through the headphones. Blind users will be able to decipher the sounds and "hear" the space around them, which their brains will turn...

My great problem is that I'm constantly "feeding" washing machines with my cell phones, watches, keys, etc. My idea is to provide laundry rooms or washing machines themselves with X-ray or some other method to detect electronic devices before they start running.

The idea is to develop a self-healing concrete, which could cut building costs by reducing the amount of steel needed to add structural support. Under strain, concrete will develop cracks that will eventually spread and weaken the structure. Why not mix the spores of limestone-producing bacteria and some nutrients into the concrete material. The spores will remain dormant until they are activated by rainwater, at which time they will eat the nutrients and produce limestone, filling...

A new airbag system for skiers will protect the wearer from falls on hard snow at high speeds. The airbag system will feature an array of accelerometers and sensors will detect when the skier is falling and trigger the inflation mechanism. A CO2 canister inflated the bags within 100 milliseconds, protecting the skier's chest, neck and back. The system could also be made customizable, allowing the user to choose additional airbags, such as ones for the waist or hips.

The foldable helmet will be able to expand in order to accommodate different head sizes. The helmet will feature a lateral middle section bracketed by two side sections. The side sections can be pulled out and locked in place to create the best fit while still meeting the ski helmet safety standards. As an added bonus, the expandable design will provide good ventilation and allow the helmet to pack down more compactly for transport.

The idea is to develop a hybrid dandelion that could one day have us driving around on dandelion tires. The roots of the dandelion contain latex, the source for natural rubber, but most dandelions are far too small to be used in commercial production. To create a version with a fatter root and higher yield, I suggest crossing the Russian dandelion with the common dandelion. No genetic modification will be used, instead DNA profiling technologies will be applied by analyzing...

The device will alert ice-anglers via smartphone when a fish has taken the bait. The device will be a wireless transmitter that will attach to the ice fishing tip-up, a spring-loaded metal arm that pop up a flag when a fish is on the line. Although the flag will signal a bite, ice fishers must constantly check the holes to see if a flag is up, and too much delay could allow the fish to escape. The device will eliminate the need for visual checks by sending a smartphone alert when a...
