My idea is to create a new billboard powered by an electrochemical reaction using the acid from oranges as the catalyst. The billboard will be lined with a gridwork of copper and zinc spikes that will keep the oranges in place while also reacting with the acid of the oranges to create the electrochemical reaction, essentially creating a huge battery of oranges.

The idea is to introduce new polymer-based currency which is supposed to foil counterfeiters. The new bills will make it easier to recognize fakes, and they will last 2.5 times longer. They will feature a metallic portrait, transparent text, raised ink, a frosted maple leaf window, and hidden numbers. It will be possible to check the hidden numbers by holding the note up to a light, with no need for UV lighting.

The next generation of mobile devices may be able to use their LCD screens to harvest a variety of light, including their own backlight, to be used as energy sources. The screens will be made up of polarizing organic photovoltaics which will be able to harvest energy from sunlight and ambient light, as well the device's backlight, and convert it into energy to power the device. The backlight of a device will use up to 90 percent of its power, and up to 75% of the light...

The idea is to create a device that will be attached to night-vision devices, adding the ability to see thermal signals. The device will allow the wearer to see in total darkness and will not be affected by snow, rain, or other conditions which conventional devices still struggle. The device will even be able to detect the thermal traces of a recently occupied room or vehicle, hand and footprints invisible to the naked eye, and recently disturbed ground that could indicate a...

The idea is to develop a water reclamation system that will recycle bathroom sink water to use for flushing the toilet, which could save up to 6000 gallons of water each year. The system will consist of a box under the sink that can hold up to 5.5 gallons of used sink water and a pump which will transfer the grey water to the toilet's water supply. Such a system is supposed to save up to 65% of potable water per flush.

Below are a couple of tips which can help you to get rid of bad garlic breath: 1. Parsley and other herbs. Due to the high level of chlorophyll found in parsley, it actually works very well as a breath freshener. If you happen to have other herbs and spices around, you can also try chewing on mint, cardamom, cloves, or fennel. 2. Lemon. Even more readily available than parsley is lemon. One of the easiest ways to make use of this garlic breath remedy is to simply drink...

The idea is to develop a vest that can rapidly cool patients suffering from cardiac arrest, helping to reduce the risk of brain damage. It is a long-known fact that cooling the body quickly helps to protect the brain against oxygen deficiency during times of reduced blood flow. The vest will be cooled by the release of zeolite into the water-filled cooling pads. The zeolite will instantly cool the water down to nearly freezing, which will help to drain the body temperature to a...

Oil lamps are still widely used in spite of the fact that they are toxic and not environmentally safe. My idea is to use solar lamps instead of oil lamps. Solar lamps work 6 hours and above; they are available for all people who don't have reliable source of electricity. Solar lamps have changeable solar batteries which are environment-friendly as they are recyclable. Lamps have brightness regulator, they are water- and heat-resistant and can even be used below -4 °F and above 131°F.

The new prosthetic eye will be able to send digital information directly to the nerve cells, allowing a blind patient to read Braille patterns without needing to touch the page. The prosthetic eye will feature a small, glasses-mounted camera, a portable processor and a microchip with electrodes implanted on the retina. The processor will translate the images collected by the camera to electrical signals, which will then be used to stimulate patterns on the nerve cells. With...

The air umbrella will keep the user dry without any canvas or fabric at all. The umbrella will feature a single plastic stick and no moving parts. Air will be sucked through the bottom of the stick's handle and will be expelled forcibly through the top to create a canopy of rain-deflecting air. The size of the air canopy can be modified by the user, and the handle of the air umbrella can also be lengthened or shortened as needed.
