An artificial pancreas could eliminate the needs of diabetics for insulin injections by delivering the insulin automatically when required. People with type 1 diabetes can maintain normal sugar levels by engaging in low key activities after eating. Working off this idea, the pancreas would consist of a closed loop system containing a blood sugar monitor, insulin pump, activity monitors attached to the body, and a processing unit. Input from the activity and blood sugar monitors...

The idea is to create an application that will help make flying more social, and less random, by allowing fliers to choose seatmates through Facebook. The application will allow users to link their Facebook profile to their check-in information, and then choose a seating partner based on their profile. Both passengers must choose to...

I suppose that microscopic worms could do a better job of detecting explosives than X-ray machines, metal detectors or bomb sniffing dogs. The tiny nematodes, known as Caenorhabditis elegans, have little scent organs on the sides of their mouths. Why not extract the receptors from the amphids and incorporate them into a device (so called bomb sniffing machine).

I suggest using a plastic metamaterial to build a cloak that makes objects invisible to sound waves. The cloaking device will be made of stacked sheets of plastic filled with holes that will be sized and arranged to redirect sound waves by either blocking them or absorbing them. The device will work for audible frequencies between one and four kilohertz, which is the same frequency as the higher two octaves on a piano.

The newly developed mChip can accurately diagnose HIV, costs only $1 to produce, and is the size of a credit card. The plastic mChip can accurately diagnose HIV with only a pinprick of blood. The chip takes advantage of microfluidics and eliminates the need for skilled technicians for analysis. The low cost combined with the size, speed, and accuracy could make the mChip extremely valuable for diagnosis in rural areas.

They will fit an array of tube diameters, remaining securely in place and emitting a bright LED light from the sides as well as directly ahead. The lights can be placed anywhere on the frame, automatically...

To drill a hole in the glass seems to be the problem without solution. But the solution does exist and it is quite simple. You just need some turpentine. Drop a couple of drops of turpentine on the glass. Use putty or ordinary plasticine for a border to prevent the liquid from spreading. Then begin to drill on low speed adding some more turpentine if needed. And remember that the drill should be sharp.
