Why not invent a "smart" Christmas tree - one capable of retaining its needles for twice the normal length of time?

My idea is to involve homeless people in city sightseeing tours. Who knows the city and its places to visit better than homeless people do? This seems to be beneficial for both tourists and homeless people: the first can learn interesting facts about the places they visit; the second receive an opportunity to earn a little money and communicate with people.

I wish we had a single web site with primary goal to help homeless people. The site would contain the full list of organizations helping such people, products and other stuff required to be donated. They could even have volunteers to come to your house and take things you wanted to donate. This would definitely make it easier for other people to contribute to charity as the majority simply didn't know where to go / what to donate / who to contact and so on.

I am very tired of the political system in the UK. We get sick of the Conservatives, so we vote for Labour. We get sick of Labour, so we get the er-um Conservatives again. And millions of people SCREAM silently into their cups of tea. Nothing ever changes. Especially not the parties, who reap the rewards for just sitting, whilst making (invariably) terribly lousy decisions that affect everybodies lives, often drastically. Isn't it time we had a fairer system? More parties to choose from,...

What if the Government offered a tax credit to move closer to your job? This would reduce commuter traffic and air pollution. There would need to be a cap on the credits and some way to verify the move and change in distance.

The University system here in the United States follows traditions that should perhaps be updated as we move into a globally competitive marketplace in the 21st century. Colleges have experimented with Internet classes and distance learning courses that are aired over television channels. I propose that colleges establish a set of professional quality video taped lecture presentations for standard courses. The video tapes could be kept in a special section of the university...

After beating the snot out of each other one day, Stig and I discussed ways of bringing lasting peace to the world. Military deterrents? Forget it. Economic sanctions? Punchless. Public ridicule? Now you're talking... Simply add the following amendment to the UN charter: Should any nation declare war on any other nation, the declared upon nation has the right to officially rename the declaring nation; use of this new name shall be binding for all UN members. Would any nation...

Why not take your debt card; put your picture on it; and when you swipe it to pay for booze it will verify your age. I can't think of anyone that would give their debt card and pin to anyone, plus it has your photo on it.

I propose that the national government expend public funds to sponsor scientific research by creating a comprehensive Academic Papers Database. Many journals and data warehouses exist to contain academic papers, but a central data repository would have numerous advantages. 1) Undergraduate students who produce papers for college could have their papers permanantly inducted into the database when submitted for grading in electronic form. Thereafter, University Professors all over the...

I think it's terrible to see a presidential debate where one candidate claims that the sky is green while the other says it is yellow, and then the interviewer nods solemly and moves on to the next question. This stuff is poison for any democracy - yet this strange type of political interview seems to be spreading like the plague! Let the viewers reach their own opinions? What a bunch of hogwash! The viewers (including myself) simply don't have the facts, they have jobs and a family...
