Why not develop a smartphone app which will work with metal detectors to help the hunt for unexploded land mines? The app will be able to detect and draw the outline of the buried land mine. The app will work with existing metal detectors, and provide a more exact visual of the shape and size of the mine. This will allow the minesweepers to differentiate mines from cans, wires, and other debris.

I want to have a battery charger to recharge standard alkaline batteries. This will keep them from the landfill for a little while longer. The charger will use a microprocessor to control the trickle charge and prevent overheating and will be able to charge both AA and AAA batteries. The charging cycle will take about 4 hours depending upon the quality of the battery and amount of charge left in it. The device will also recharge Ni-CD, Ni-MH, and RAM batteries by automatically...

My idea is to create a cell phone application for wheelchair users that will give information about the accessibility of nearby locations. The application will use a color coded map to display the accessibility levels of various places, such as cafes, theaters, or clubs. The maps will use open data that will allow users to modify and update the information. This open contribution ability is very important, because it allows the application to grow as it is being used.

My idea is to create an application for smartphones which will use phone's GPS and accelerometers to sense and pinpoint the location of potholes. The great challenge there will be how to teach the phone to tell the difference between a pothole and a speed bump or sewer grate.

Why not create a super simple cell phone for children and seniors to make an emergency call for help with the push of a single button? It will be possible to program the device to call parents, or any other designated emergency contact and send emails with GPS data pinpointing the caller's location. In addition, such cell phone could have an alarm to help responders locate the person in need of help.

The handset in such a case will have a pulsator which, when placed on specific areas of the head, will send vibrations directly to the speech center of the brain. The phone will also include a light to indicate an incoming call and different volume controls.

Why not provide our mobile phones with ECG machine capability of clinical-quality readings? Such a cell phone should have a pair of electrodes to send ECG readings via Bluetooth. The device could be held in the hands to take pulse readings, or could be placed on the user's chest. Of course, received ECG wouldn't be as comprehensive as a full electrocardiogram but it could be helpful while arrhythmia or other heart pattern issues monitoring.

Are you a kind of person who just can't stop tapping your fingers on the furniture trying to reproduce a favorite melody? This seems to be annoying... Why not create electronic gloves which will create the music while you are tapping on the dining table for example? Each finger on the glove will be mapped to a different note with different musical instrument tones for you to choose from. There could be also a couple of distinct background rhythms and pre-recorded songs.

I usually use a credit card while purchasing something. The main disadvantage of using credits cards is that it is difficult to monitor spent money. I want to have a wallet which will inform me about all changes with my bank account and will adjust to the sum of money available: * It will vibrate / beep each time a transaction take place; * When there isn't much money in bank account the wallet will resist its opening; * It will swell and shrink to reflect...
