Here is a quickie: asecond battery for laptops so one can switch main batteries without shutting down. Not very big, just one or two cells just enough for 3 to 5 minutes of power, with a condenser that you'd have to charge before I guess to get the proper voltage, probably be better for larger laptops the 17 inch ones.

The "OS Card" would be a independant operating system that is installed or flashed onto a PCI-E card for computers. A entire operating system such as Windows would come on one of these cards. Instead of booting and running your OS from your local hard drive, it would run most of the OS from the PCI-E card. The card would be read only, protecting vital system files from malware such as trojans or viruses. A small number of system files that would require read and write functions...

Up till now, the operating systems in PCs use only the first core in the multicore CPUs. If you pull up the resource monitor in windows, you will see that the second core is only engaged when the first core reaches 100% usage. My idea is to have software developed that would tag each process in a program with an assigned core, assign it a range of memory to use and syncronize the output of the steams in the memory controller with clocking flags -- so that for instance voice and video would...

I noticed that more and more people are using computers, and that lots of people spend time chatting and surfing the web, or just doing work. I'm sure that the energey used in hitting a button on the keyboard or moving a mouse could create some energy, this power multiplied by millions of people on millions of computers, would generate a lot of power, and it's good for the enviroment.

Laser printing on plain paper. Can it not be done by accurately calibrated laser just powerful enough to charr the surface of plain paper to create characters and images? Only basic scanner needed. No toner, no consumables. You can print on both sides too. Right from the time I heard of laser printers in 1973, I always thought that it would be this way. I am now 57 yrs and have been in computer maintenance field since 1968. I know xeroxes and laser printers' insides. A little elaborate...

My idea is simple. Since I am in tech support, they should have an adapter that takes monitor, usb, parallel, etc and outputs it into a single connection. The other end would have a single connection that would plug into the computers monitor, usb etc. The point of the connector is for quick disconnects in a business environment.

Mice have come a long way in the last few years with the invention of the optical mouse e.t.c. The optical mouse still has several problems. 1) They are still surface dependent - will not work on glass e.t.c. 2) Cordless optical mice drain batteries very fast, especially when playing games. (Solar panels add around 25% more life) My idea is to use an accelerometer to measure the changes in direction, and hence the position of the cursor on the screen. I believe that the...

My idea is that a person as s/he moves around the mouse, moves around four mouse pointers simultaneously and thus moves the mouse around less and has it therefore easier and is therefore less receptive to RSI. The pointers move at the same time, in the same direction and at the same speed. Imagine four 'squares' dividing up the screen. And each pointer is centered as it is placed in the center of such a 'square'. Now which pointer is active? The latest direction of the pointers...

I see lots of coin collecting software out there. My idea to create a coin collecting book with the coin spots that can be connected to the computer. The computer could tell which spots you have filled and automatically catalog your coins. An internet site could be created to retrive the value of your collection.
